Khon Kaen province is in northeast of Thailand. It's about 445 kilometers from Bangkok. The tree of the province is Cassia bakenana Craib. Khon Kaen is well known for the silk, is manufactured in the area, plus this province was found fossils of dinosaur for a very long period. This is picturesqueness of Khon Kaen. So we choose study of Khon Kaen's history because this place is our hometown, and we would like to present our picturesque hometown to every where.




ATTRACTIONS
Khon Kaen has many notable attraction which we would like to recommend as follow:


 1. PHRA THAT KHAM KAEN

                   Phar That Kham Kaen is  located in Ban Kham Nampong, Khon Kaen
That place is very important to Khon Kaen because Phar That Kham Kaen is the birthplace of Khon Kaen.


2. PHU WIANG DISNOSAUR MUSEUM

                          Phu Wiang Disnosaur Museum is the first place of Thailand where was found the bone of dinosaurs.There are many kinds of dinosaur from the picture.

3. BATS CAVE

                          Phu Pha Man National Park is located in Phu Pha Man,Khon Kaen.

It is natural attraction that has much interesting places for  people who loves adventure.

                            At Bats is located in Phu Pha Man.

 4. PHU PHA MAN NATIONAL PRAK,PHAN TONG WATERFALL.

                                  Phan Tong Waterfall is the past consist of Phu Pha Man National Park.

5. UBOL RATANA DAM

                     Ubol Ratana Dam is the large Sources of electricity.

6. PHRA MAHATHAT KAEN NAKHON 

                           Phar Mahathat Kaen Nakhon or Wat Nong Wang is the ninth floors relics.

Travel
Alternative travel in Khon Kaen, Thailand
     Khon Kaen is approximatly 499 Kilometers away from Bangkok. Tourists can travel to Khon Kaen province in many ways, including private cars, buses, trains and planes.
   

    By train       
     The State Railway of Thailand offers a train service from Bangkok Railway Station ( Hua Lamphong ) to Khon Kaen province every day. It takes about 8-9 hours. Ask for details at the State Railway of Thailand . Call 1600 website www.raliway.co.th.

   By cars    
      From Bangkok take Highway No.1 (Phaholyothin) to Saraburi Main area of 107 km, turn right to Highway 2 (Midtaphab) pass Nakhon Ratchasima to Khon Kaen.

   By bus,ominibus   
      Tourists can also travel by air-conditioned buses of the transportation company. Line a Bangkok-Khon Kaen from the Nothern Bus Terminal (Mo Chit 2 ) Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road everyday. It takes about 7 hours. Ark for detail at transportation company Call 1400, www.transport.co.th.

Chonabot is most well known for its Mudmee silk and cotton that is produced locally. Mudmee is the process of tie-dyeing the threads before weaving it into fabric.

Festivals and Cultural 

Silk Festival or Phuk Sieo Tradition and Red Cross Fair

Silk Festival is an important annual fair of Khon Kaen. The fair is conducted during November 29 to December 10 of every year in front of the City Hall.  In the fair, there are many activities and shows, including Phuk Sieo ceremony or tighten  friendship, booth of Isan traditional, the country band’s shows of  many schools around Khon Kaen, Miss Silk contest, and concert of famous singers. Apart from this, there are OTOP shops from each district in Khon Kaen and other provinces, and Red Cross booth for prize drawing.

The Festival of Dok Khon Siang Khaen

The provincial festival of Khon Kaen is held during April 13-15 of every year to celebrate Songkran festival. The festival is taking around Buang Kaen Nakhon, on Sri Chan Road, and Khao Niao Road where the travelers like to come for water splashing. The ceremony in the morning is organized at all the temples to donate food to the monks, do the ritual bathing of a Buddha image and monks, and bless elders. After that is water splashing.

Phrathat Kham Kaen Fair

Phrathat Kham Kaen Fair is organized at Wat Chetiyaphum, Bam Kham in Khon Kaen’s Muang district where Phrathat is located. The fair marks on the full moon day of sixth lunar month. The purpose of a fair taking is for people to pay respect to Phrathat. The monks and people will do Buddhist ritual and make merit. After ritual ceremony, there will be the traditional show to celebrate Phathat and entertain people who come.
